Origin Theory

This is an interesting excerpt from BBC's 'How Art Made the World.' It presents a theory regarding the origins of 'grotesque' imagery of female bodies that involves fluffy baby birds, stripes, and brains.

I really want to watch the rest of this episode now.

  1. Rama is one of the most interesting neuroscientists I have ever read. He has spoken and written elsewhere about art and the brain. Not sure how useful it'd be to you, but I have both the book based on the Reith Lectures with the chapter "The Artful Brain" and I also have a CD with a recording of the lecture itself (err, somewhere, it might take a little while to find though). Interested?
